My Initial Reflection

In this course I hope to learn the basics of technology to prepare me for when I become a teacher. I hope that I can become more computer literate and also learn to type more efficiently. I hope I can learn to type without even looking down at the keyboard. I believe I waste a lot of time doing this. In this course, I would also like to learn to advance my use of PowerPoint. I do know how to make a basic Power Point presentation, but in the future when I make presentations I want them to be more than average.

I only was on the computer when I needed to be in high school. I never used any of my leisure time on it. Only when I had to do reports or I had to type was when I used the computer. I only recently learned how to use the Power Point and that was for a project I had to do in college. I would like to use the computer more often and if I did activities I really enjoyed on it, I believe I would allow me to be a more successful computer user.

The topic I would miss in this course if they were not covered is how to incorporate technical advances with children. I don’t think it would be that interesting to me to be enrolled in a class that was just about technology. I’ve taken a computer science class before and the language was very foreign to me after a while. When that happened it was very hard for me to focus in that class and I was less interested in it. The fact that I have to use technology to help teach my future classes and to make learning interesting and fun for them is something I look forward to.

Technology should be used in the classroom to help involve the students and to make learning fun for the students. It should also make learning a little easier with the

access of just about every topic imaginable on the Internet. Students that have the access to good technology also can be interactive more with how to explore new topics on their own, especially visually.

We should use technology in the classroom because it is a tool to help students explore new ways to learn. It is a tool to quickly show both teachers and students how to work together efficiently. Students can keep up with current events with the click of a button verses printed materials that takes a while to change. Technology, such as the computer, is a fast and easy learning tool.

The reflections for this week are about my thoughts on what a good teacher is to me. Of course a good teacher is someone who can make their student remember information and all of their students to have an "A" average. A good teacher is one that is not only teaching information but incorporates real life information with their teaching techniques. They make learning interesting.
